I Am Not A Poet (Or, Why I Don’t Claim To Be)

Happy Monday.

I cannot call myself a poet. Yes, I love poetry, and I love reading/writing it, but I refuse to call myself a poet.

Because I feel that the second you give yourself a name or a label, you are branded with it. You are now known as a poet, and that means people expect poems from you.

It’s the same thing with any career. Are you in business? Then you, my friend, are a businessman. Are you involved with teaching? Then you must be a teacher.

There are so many different ways we can describe what we love and what we want to do other than our labels. The world is not simply black and white, nor are we, so our labels shouldn’t have to be also.

Have a great Monday!

Chapters 480, 481, 482, 483, 484, 485, 486, 487, 488, 489 & 490: Organization Is Key

Happy Thursday (or Almost Friday Day as I like to call it)!

People always tell you that “organization is key for success”. Especially when you’re at your job or at school. You forget one thing, and your whole routine might crumble, or you’ll miss something important. How people organize their belongings is completely unique to them!

Some people choose to keep everything in an exact place, nothing can be moved without it being put back exactly where it was. These people are the neatest, cleanliness people I know, and I don’t think I could ever be like them?

Other people have what I like to call “organized messes”, where only one place of their desk or room is extremely messy, but the rest of their desk or room is completely spotless. I would like to say that I am one of those people, but I’m much messier than that.

How do you organize your stuff? Do you leave it in one giant pile, or is everything meticulously put away?

Have a great day! xxoo

Chapters 465, 466, 467, 468, 469, 470 & 471: Coming and Going

Happy Friday!

I hate to say it, but I’m sad today. I found out that two of my close friends at college will not be there this semester (one is taking a leave, the other is transferring), and another friend is transferring at the end of the semester. It sucks to know that they’re leaving, even though I know it’s best for them.

It’s just frustrating to see people you care about leave. It makes me feel like I did something wrong, even though I know I didn’t. Maybe there will be new people to hang out with and become friends with!

People leaving sucks, but hopefully there will be people coming into my life too!

How do you feel when people leave?

Have an awesome day!

Chapters 463 &464: Weight

Happy Friday!

Weight is something that has become an issue in my life, and I’m frustrated. With the societal expectations and pressure, it’s relatively easy to see why people are so stressed out about it. We bash anyone who looks too heavy, or looks too thin. We promote being healthy and treating your body right, but we don’t help to inform people that there are safe ways to do it.

I just hate that the idea of what someone weighs matters so much. Why can’t it just be a personal thing that’s left alone and left up to the individual to decide? Why do other people have to offer their advice and opinions, even when they’re not wanted. The people closest to you say that they “know best”, but if they have all of this information, why don’t they better themselves with it?

I guess I’m just annoyed about this. Weight is something I have to work on in 2014, but so far, it’s not getting off to a great start.

Have a great day!

Chapters 367, 368 & 369: Weekends

Happy Sunday!

I know I said in my last post that I would post on Friday, but obviously, that didn’t happen. So I’ve decided to post today instead!

So, it’s the weekend. More specifically, it’s the last day of the weekend, which is sad. Having time to sleep in and hang out is great, and it feels like you need to cram in as many fun activities as possible before your free time is over. And that’s bittersweet I think. On one side, you get to spend time with your loved ones, doing fun or relaxing things, or maybe just catching up on work or your programs.

The weekend is a way to spend your time doing what you want to do, and spending time with whom ever you want!

So, what do you like to do on the weekend?

Have an awesome weekend! xxoo

Chapters 320, 321, 322, 323, 324, 325 & 326: Listen

Happy Friday!

Like I said in my last note, I’ve been sick for the past few days, and haven’t been able to blog. I’m sorry I haven’t been around, but I’m glad to say I’m feeling much better!

I was in New York City recently, and a man helped me to hail said something to me that I found very inspiring. He said, “The more you listen, the better your life will be”. And he’s right! Listening is a huge part of any relationship, and the more people listen to each other, the stronger the relationship will be. Listening is important in any relationship, new or old. Listening allows you to gain new insight into someone’s personal life, and it’s a way for you to share personal thoughts and feelings with others.

Listening means paying attention to what others are saying, and if you pay attention, you could garner valuable information. Advice about cleaning, life, relationships, jobs, you name it. There will always be someone who knows something new, and is willing to share it with you.

Listening doesn’t just mean when you are face-to-face. It can take place through social media, texting, Skyping, calling. Any way to communicate helps. Communication is key for listening, because it can help move the conversation along, and help the relationship grow!

Listening is also a two-way thing. You can’t be the only one listening, the other person (or other people) have to listen too! That’s one of the most important parts of a relationship, knowing that the other person (or people) are listening to what you have to say, and responding with their opinions and ideas!

Listening can help in many aspects of your life, so why not start today!

Have an amazing weekend! xxoo

Chapter 242: Passion

Happy Thursday!

Today, I’d like to share with you a piece I wrote a while ago. About passion, and what it means to me.

Passionate People.

I think deep down, everyone has a passion.

I think we’re born with it, but we can spend our wholes lives looking for the best way to express it.

It’s life in its purest form, and once found, we can live the rest of our lives surrounded by it.

Maybe the purpose of our lives in general is discovering our passion.

Maybe…I think that it’s to use our passion to better the lives of others.

I like that thought, but I think the first step is discovering what our passion is, then what we can do with it to help, and once there, who and how we want to help with our passion.

So, that’s it! What does passion mean to you? I think it means doing something you’re interested in, and being happy.

Hope you have a great week! xxoo

Chapters 192 & 193: Tragedies

Happy Monday!

For those who don’t know, there were several explosives that detonated during the Boston Marathon this afternoon, leaving numerous people injured, and several dead. People around the country have been offering their support and love, and personally, I wish I could do more to help. They need people to donate blood, and people around Boston are offering shelter and care for those who were affected.

It seems like tragedies bring out both the worst, and the best, in people. While it’s awful that someone decided to go ahead and injure all of these innocent people, the rallying of support and love is inspiring in many ways. Good vs. Bad has been a constant battle for years, and it shows the true spirit of humanity, and who we are as individuals, and who we are as a society.

Hope you all have a great, and safe, week!

Chapter 187: Parks & Pictures

Happy Tuesday!

There’s a popular saying that a picture is worth 1000 words. But if you add all of the world’s photographs together, there would be more words than people on the Earth. The thing is though, most of those words are never spoken aloud, instead, the pictures speak for themselves. But who speaks for the people in the photo, or the photographer?

Hope you all have a great week!
