You’re Not A Certified Therapist (And Why Your Friends Should Stop Treating You As One).

Happy Sunday!

I know I haven’t posted in a few weeks, but now that midterms are officially over I can get back to a somewhat routine of posting.

You know those friends you can always talk to if you’re upset/having a rough day? The one you can tell your deepest secrets to, and they’ll keep it. The one who always listens, and doesn’t expect anything in return. You all have that friend, or in my case, you are that friend.

And over the course of this year, I’ve learned that it can be hard to be that friend. It can be hard to be the one who always listens and cares, and who expects nothing in return. But I am writing here to tell you that it is okay to say no, that it is okay to not want to listen, to focus on yourself for a little bit. It does not make you a bad friend, it just makes you a human being who needs some time to their self.

I know this because I am that friend, and I am slowly learning that life doesn’t always have to be about everyone else, it is also about yourself. Self-care is one of the most important things in the world, and you will feel so much better if you take some time to do it. And if people don’t accept that? It’s not your fault, it’s theirs for not realizing how amazing of a person you are.

(UPDATE) To the people who have these types of friends, it does NOT mean we don’t want to help, believe me that’s all we want to do, but sometimes we need a little break to focus on ourselves. It doesn’t mean we won’t be there for you if you need it, we will listen, but sometimes we need you to listen to us too.

Have a great Sunday!

Chapter 516: Lost Time & Poems

Happy Tuesday!

I know I’ve been away for a while, life snuck up on me and I’ve been trying to catch up.

But, I wanted to share a poem with you, and I wanted to get your feedback.

So please let me know what you think, and I’ll try to start posting again (hopefully tomorrow)

Have an awesome day! xxoo

What Did You Expect?

They say that beauty is skin deep

Spotless, unblemished, clean

Yet, if you dig deep enough

You will soon learn that I am none of those things, and never have been

My skin is like the cracks in the wall of your room

You know it’s there, but you don’t want to acknowledge it

For fear of what could be the behind the lines

Hazy memories of white walls and obnoxious machines, telling you that I’m still alive

Am I what you expected me to be?

Across my back and front, faded now

Jagged, abstract lines

Stitched up with problems and diagnoses

I am what you wouldn’t expect me to be, a stitched up shell of what I once was

Some would say new and improved, but I don’t know if I see it that way

Not yet anyway, but considering it’s my own skin, I’m not surprised

They say that beauty is only skin deep

And for what it’s worth, I can’t honestly say I’d agree

Because what I’ve discovered is that the things that are under the skin

Are much more interesting, but I would agree with one thing about the skin

It can be beautiful, but sometimes at the price of a procedure

They also say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder

But if it was up to me, I might want to change my concept of beauty

To include my own

Chapters 301 & 302: Late Night Thoughts

Happy Tuesday!

So, do you ever have thoughts late at night that you just have to write down so you won’t forget it? That happens to me often, so I’d thought I’d share one of my late night thoughts with you!

They say if you love someone/something, you should set it free, and if it/they return, it was meant to be. But how long should you wait for it/them to return before you call it quits and move on? Setting something free isn’t easy, but sometimes it has to be done. So what happens after? Nothing is forever, but waiting for the perfect moment can seem like it takes forever.

And what if they return into your life, at an inopportune moment? What happens then? Do you let them back into your life, or set them free permantently? And if they’re free, does that mean you are as well?

So, that was one of my late night thoughts!

What do you think?

Have a great week! xxoo

Chapters 289 & 290: What Do You Want?

Happy Thursday!

So, I don’t know what to write about. Nothing interesting or exciting is currently happening, and I feel like I’m boring you with the same topics over and over again.

Do you ever feel like you’ve hit a creative road block? Like nothing you write about will be inspiring or interesting for you readers.

So, my question is this: What would you like me to write about? It can be anything at all, food, clothes, daily occurrences, random things, etc. What do YOU want to read about?

Have a great week! xxoo

Chapter 240: Time

Happy Tuesday!

Our lives are controlled by time. We measure our days with it, we either want it to slow down or speed up. Time passes by, taking memories and pasts with us. Time is with us in the present, what we are currently into, or thinking about. Time is part of the future, we plan out our lives, what we want to do, and when we want to do it. Time is something that isn’t tangible, but always near us. We wear time on our bodies, we carry time around in our pockets and bags, we look at it constantly.

Time is something every one, including me, takes for granted. We think it’ll always be there, that we’ll always have enough time to complete our test, or spend with our loved ones, or finish a project. But time always runs out, whether we like it or not. But it’s up to us to make the most of the time we have, and share our time with others, spend our time doing things we love, or dreaming of things to do.

What are your favorite ways to pass the time? Mine are reading a book, writing, and listening to music.

Hope you have an amazing week!

Chapters 188, 189 & 190: So Many Thoughts

Happy Friday!

Have you ever had a lot of thoughts in your head, but you couldn’t get rid of them, no matter how hard you tried? It seems like sometimes, the thoughts pile up, leaving little room for other things…which can be bad. It’s frustrating, and irritating, especially if it’s difficult to get those thoughts down on paper.

Maybe some sleep will help me to forget some thoughts, so I can make room for new ones.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Chapter 135, 136, & 137: Effort Justification

Happy Sunday!

Effort Justification: The finding that when people suffer or work hard or make sacrifices, they will try to convince themselves that is it worthwhile.

I came across this definition while taking notes for my Social Psychology class, and it caught my attention. I’ve always been interested in learning what makes people tick, what motivates their actions and thoughts. So this definition interests me in more ways than one. It’s a definition for so many actions that I’ve seen people do, and now I know why some of them have acted in a specific manner because of it. It’s just interesting to see if/how this applies to other people, and maybe even myself. It’s just another clue into the world of learning how people tick. Hope you all have great week!

Chapter 9: Week of Work

Happy Wednesday to all!

Today marks a milestone, a little one at most. Today marks a week since I’ve started blogging, and I have no intention of stopping anytime in the near future. It’s a nice little accomplishment, and I’m proud of it. I think I’ll be always be proud every time I create a new post, because it’s a way for my thoughts and ideas to get out into the open, to finally have a change for them to be written into words read by you all.

So thanks for one of the best weeks I’ve had so far in my young 18 years.

Hugs to all, and from the bottom of my heart, thank you for taking the time to read my thoughts and ideas. It means the absolute world to me.
