10 Things To Remember While Traveling To A New Country

Recently I traveled from Florence to London for part of Spring Break, and here are some tips I picked up along the way.

  1. Bring comfortable shoes/pack for the weather you’re traveling to. Just because it’s warm wherever you are doesn’t mean it’s the same wherever you’re going.
  2. Don’t forget your chargers/extra batteries/adapters. You really don’t want to be stuck in a countr y without a way to stay connected/take photos.
  3. Hit up the touristy spots, especially if it’s your first time there. Maybe even try a bus tour! Although it may feel a little silly, it’s a good way to see the city.
  4. Try the local food! Even if you don’t like it, it’s still a fun experience. Plus, you get bragging rights that you’ve tried something new.
  5. Bring a journal/something to write in. This is a necessity, so you remember the things that happen on your trip.
  6. Be open minded. Realize it’s okay to feel good/bad things throughout your trip! (This tip was given to me by my housemate Gaby…thanks Gab!)
  7. Get lost. This sounds a little weird, I know, but it can be a fun adventure to find your way around the city/country that you’re in! Just make sure to pack a map.
  8. Find fun things to do, like a local exhibit or a fair. It’s fun, and a good way to explore your surroundings.
  9. Get some rest! It’s no fun exploring when you’re exhausted, plus it’ll boost your energy while you’re traveling.
  10. Have fun. Traveling has its highs and lows, so take all of it in stride and enjoy your adventures.

Have a great weekend!

Chapters 312, 313 & 314: Chicago

Happy Sunday!

As I mentioned in my last post, Dad and I flew to Chicago to attend the Lollapalooza Music Festival.

I’ve never been to Chicago before, so I was excited to visit the city, and I wasn’t disappointed! The city was beautiful, and I loved exploring!

And the festival. What can I say? It was one of the best experiences of my life, and I had so much fun. I’ll share some pictures below.

Hope you all had an amazing weekend!

Now for the pictures:

Chapters 198 & 199: Festival Fun

Happy Sunday!

Today, a few of my friends and I celebrated the Indian festival of Holi, which is also known as the “festival of colors”. We got to throw colored power at each other, and by the time we finished, we were multicolored from head to toe. It was a really interesting an exciting experience, and it was a great way to de-stress and hang out with friends.

What are some of your favorite festivals that you like to attend?

Hope you all have a great week!

Chapter 57: Why Am I Terrible At Video Games?

Happy Tuesday!

I realized something that I am terrible at, video games. I’ve never been a major fan of them in the first place, but after my 11-year-old sister beat me four times in a row over the weekend, I came to realize just how bad I am at playing or winning any video game.

Sadly, I have no way on campus to try to improve my poor playing skills, so I guess I’ll have to stick to Solitaire for now.

Chapter 32: Family Weekend

Happy Friday!

Today was an amazing day, because starting today, it’s Family Weekend at my school. This means that I get to meet my friends’ families, and that they also get to meet mine as well. Even though I saw my family only a couple of weeks ago, it was great seeing their faces and talking to them in person instead of over the phone. I got to give them a bit of a campus tour, even though the weather is freezing, it was still pretty fun to see their reactions to what my life is like here.

So, all of my posts for the next few days will be about our adventures during Family Weekend, so stay tuned!

Chapter 26: Time Warp

Happy Saturday!

Today, I get the amazing chance to go see a lovely movie known as “The Rocky Horror Picture Show”. Personally, this is one of my all time favorite movies, and I never get tired of watching it or listening to the music. I also get the opportunity today to take my friend with me who has never seen it before. I can’t wait to see all of her reactions to the campy-ness and all of crazy things and characters in the movie.

Hope you all have an great weekend, and I’m now off to Transylvania (joke from the movie!)

Chapter 25: Shopping Carts & Toys

Happy Friday!

Today, I had an excellent adventure with my friends at Target. We cracked jokes and made fun of our purchases the entire time, and while some other shoppers gave us odd looks, it was like we didn’t even notice that there were other people around us because we were having too much fun.

It was a great time, and it was a great way to blow off steam and get off campus for a little while. I could tell that we all needed a break from school, and going shopping was a way for us to get back to the outside world and just let loose.

Chapter 11: What a Wonderful Weekend

Happy Friday everyone! I hope you all had a great week, and hopefully, not too chilly of a weekend.

So far, being back home has been amazing. It’s been a chance for me to relax and cool down from my busy month.

But the event that I’m most excited for isn’t one that’s at home. Tomorrow, I get the amazing opportunity to go into the city with my friends, and attend Comic-Con. I’ve been dreaming of this for weeks, and I can’t actually believe it’s going to happen within the next 24 hours!

So my dear readers, what do you have planned for this weekend? Whatever you’re planning to go, make sure to keep warm and have an awesome adventure.

Live Long And Prosper (It’s the only quote I actually know from Star Trek)! ❤Image
