Thanks Mom and Dad, For Everything.

This past Sunday, I had the privilege of becoming part of the latest class of college graduates.

But as I walked across the stage to receive my diploma, I realized something.

Even though I was the one who was graduating, there was no doubt that without the support of my friends and family, I wouldn’t have been graduating at all.

In particular, there are two people whom without their support and love, I wouldn’t have even existed to get to walk across that stage.

If you haven’t guessed it by now, those two people are my parents.

My mom and my dad are two of the most amazing people in my life, and I’m going to tell you why.

My parents have always been there for me, from Pre-K to college, and have stood by my side through the impossibly tough times. They tried for years to have a child, and when I finally was born, did everything in their power to make sure I would be okay.

They’ve taught me some of my most valued lessons and have helped teach me right from wrong. They’ve taught me to always help others when I could, and the importance of giving, especially when others have nothing.

My parents have dealt with my 2 AM anxiety-filled phone calls and constant questions about how to be an adult.

My parents sometimes struggled to help get me through college, all while working full-time and raising my sister too.

My parents taught me to work hard, but to also take the time to relax and have fun. They’ve taught me that if I have an idea or a dream, I should work as hard as I can and that it will be possible.

They’ve taught me to love pizza, disco, old movies and “All In The Family”. They’ve taught me what true love looks like after 37 years of being together.

My parents are my role models, and there is no doubt that without their love and support, I wouldn’t be the woman I am today.

So thank you, Mom and Dad, for everything you’ve done, and everything you will continue to do.

I love you.

Chapters 387, 388, 389, 390, 391, 392, 393, 394, 395, 396, 397, 398, 399 : Death

Happy Wednesday!

I know I just posted something a few minutes ago, but I really wanted to talk about something that happened to me today.

Today, my dad called me and informed that a close family friend had died. Technically, it was my “uncle’s” (he’s not related to me) mother. Even though they weren’t related, I did grow up knowing this person and spending time with her and her family. It was devastating to hear, and I can’t imagine how her family feels. Her grandsons are like brothers to me, and it pains me to hear their voices and hearing them sound so upset.

I want to comfort them in any way I can, but there’s only so much I can do to help. I wish I could physically care for them, but I’m stuck at school. I’m really at a loss for what to do…how do you deal with death, even if you know it’s inevitable. How do you help those who are affected, and how can you help them through this tough time?

What does death mean to you, and how do you cope with it?

Love you all!

Chapters 308, 309 310 & 311: Countdown

Happy Thursday!

A few months ago, I mentioned that in August, I’d be flying out to Chicago to attend the Lollapalooza Music Festival. And GUESS WHAT? I’ll be flying on this Friday for a lovely weekend with my dad in Chicago.

I’ve been waiting for this for months, so I’m super excited! However, I’ll be on a 6 AM flight, so that’s the only major downfall of this trip, but I guess I’ll drink some coffee and power through it!

So, what are you doing this weekend?

Have an awesome weekend! xxoo

Chapter 223: Mom, I Love You (In Case You Didn’t Know)

Happy Sunday (again)

Because it’s Mother’s Day, I wanted to write a special post thanking my mom. In my life, she is the most amazing and loving person, who is always there for me when I need her. I love her so much, and although sometimes I may not show it, I really do care. She has done so much for me, and she’s one of the reasons I write this blog. I owe her so much, and I even though I know this might not even cover it, I hope she knows how truly loved and special she is.

So, Happy Mother’s Day to the best mother is the world! Thank you for everything, and I hope one day, I can be as wonderful as a mother as you are for me.

All My Love. xxoo

Chapters 155 & 156: Sun Thoughts

Happy Friday!

Today is my last day before flying back home…to the freezing cold. It’s been great spending time with my family in the warm weather, so I’m a bit bummed to be heading back. Of course, I miss my parents and sister, but the idea of going back to the cold is extremely unappealing. Plus, school starts back up on Monday, and my workload is already piling up.

Oh well, goodbye warm weather…and hello warm sweaters.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Chapters 148 & 149: Home Again

Happy Friday!

As the title says, I’m back home again, this time for Spring Break. It’s been pretty good, and I’m happy to be back with my family (and in my own room!). Even though I have some studying & other work over break, I’m still hoping I’ll get a chance to relax once I go to Florida.

Also, if I don’t post this upcoming week, or post infrequently, it’s because I’ll be in Florida, and my grandmas’ house doesn’t have the best Internet connection. I’ll try to make it work though!

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Chapters 142 & 143: Tired Thoughts

Happy Saturday!

This past week has been pretty stressful, and the start of this week looks to be the same. It’s draining, but I’ll get through it, hopefully unscathed. Even though I’m stressed and tired, it’s a great feeling to know that by the end of the week, I’ll be back home with my family.

Yet, not all of my friends will be going back home. One of my friends is from another country, and while she’s been in the US for a few years, she hasn’t been able to return back home. If she does, she risks the chance to continue studying here. And it made me realize, that even though I miss my family, I’m still able to go and see them. And it made me feel sad, because I know she misses her family. However, I think while we’ve been at school, we’ve become like a little family, so maybe while it’s not exactly the same, we have something close enough.

Hope you all have a great rest of your weekend!

Chapter 122: Chinese Food

Happy Friday!

I love Chinese food. There, my secret is now off my chest and out into the big bad world/Internet. Even though that last line was joking, I really do love Chinese food. And one thing I love doing while I’m eating it? Sharing it with my family & friends as we all sit around to laugh, eat and just enjoy each others’ company.

Which is pretty awesome, not to mention, delicious.

Hope you all have an amazing weekend!

Chapter 95: Tears (Of Joy)

Happy Saturday!

Today, my family and I made someone cry. It was my uncle, and he cried because we gave him a present and card for his birthday. For as long as I can remember, I don’t think I’ve ever seen him cry until today. But his tears were tears of happiness and love, and the wet kisses & hugs we were given to thank us were totally worth it!
