10 Reasons For Why Planned Parenthood Is Important

10. It provides a large variety of health services, including the following:

  • STD/STI testing
  • Birth control prescriptions/Contraceptives
  • Breast cancer/Cervical cancer screenings
  • Men’s health services
  • HIV testing
  •  Gynecological exams
  • Pap Smears
  • Prenatal care

9. It has been around for more than 100 years, which means that this non-profit organization has helped millions of individuals in the United States alone since  1916.

8. They focus on providing affordable health care for everyone, regardless of their background.

7. There are over 700 health centers in the United States alone. From low-income areas to residential neighborhoods.

6. They also help to provide education programs, including sexual education programs.

5. They also help to prevent unintended pregnancies. However, as shown above, this is not the only service that Planned Parenthood provides.

4. They are a non-profit organization, which means that they have no financial motivation to help others. They simply want to help others receive the medical care that they want and need.

3. If it is defunded, it is estimated that over 600,000 individuals would lose their access to healthcare, which would lead to a rise in major health issues, such as cancer and unintended/unsafe pregnancies.

2. Planned Parenthood also provides safe access for underage teenagers. This is extremely important, as many health places (such as hospitals) will not help minors receive the care that they need without the consent of an adult.

1. Finally, Planned Parenthood in one of the only organizations that fights for the reproductive health and sexual health of everyone. Men, women, and children are all able to have access to this amazing organization, with no strings attached. To me, that definitely is important.

What To Do When It’s The Weekend

10) Catch up on sleep. I cannot stress this enough, as sleep is very important, and it’s a great way to relieve stress. Also sleep is amazing.

9) If the weather is nice, go outside. Fresh air is good for you.

8) Spend some time catching up on hobbies or activities. Personally I like to binge watch Netflix.

7) Find a new hobby or interest. Again I recommend Netflix. I’m currently watching Jessica Jones (which is phenomenal, and I highly recommend giving it a shot)

6) If you’re a writer/blogger, catch up on your writing. This is what I’m doing right now.

5) If you have the time, cook or bake. It’s always fun to try out new recipes. Plus the end product will most likely be delicious. It’s a win-win scenario.

4) Hang out with friends or family. Most people aren’t busy on the weekend so it’s a good time to catch up with everyone.

3) Go to events. Plays, festivals, sporting events, etc. Getting to take in new experiences is always a great way to spend your time.

2) Catch up on work if you need to. If you use your free time now to get stuff done, you might have more free time later on. Again, it’s a win-win scenario.

1) Enjoy. There’s nothing better than having the weekend off to do anything that you want. Have fun, and don’t forget to relax!

What To Do When You Join A Dating Site

10) Brace yourself for the potentially creepy and awkward moments that are coming your way.

9) Try to keep an open mind about what could happen on the site.

8) Pick your cutest profile picture and try to sound interesting in your bio.

7) Or, just be brutally honest about yourself. Sometimes honesty is the best policy.

6) Try to have an interesting conversation. Even if you don’t actually meet up with the person sometimes a new conversation can be exciting!

5) If possible have a sense of humor about the whole thing! Everything is easier when you’re laughing about it.

4) Depending on the dating site you use (and your own preferences), you may have a variety of people to sort through. This can be time-consuming, so if you want to commit to this seriously, you’ll need to make some free time.

3) Note using a dating app while in public may be a little embarrassing. Especially when your notifications go off while in class or at work.

2) You also may have to explain to friends and family why you joined a dating site. Be prepared for those conversations.

1) Have fun! Sometimes a dating site is a great way to meet new people. Or at least receive some interesting photos.

What To Do When You’re Too Busy To Write A Blog Post

10) Read other peoples’ blog posts! Especially helpful if you have some free time/need inspiration.

9) Try to not procrastinate on all of the work that you have to do.

8) Procrastinate anyway. Netflix is particularly useful for this.

7) Think about the blog posts that you want to write in the future when you’re less busy.

6) Give up and finally write a funny blog post discussing how you’re too busy to write a blog post.

5) Realize the irony, and continue writing.

4) Take for granted the precious free time that you have by fooling around on social media and other distractions.

3) Spend half of the night stressing over the work you procrastinated on, and realize you’ve somehow become much busier than before.

2) Realize that the initial work that you had to do wasn’t really that much work at all.

1) Realize how busy you now are because of your procrastination skills and because you are definitely now too busy.

To the eddying din the ocean makes,
to the crisp waves crash over the rocks
Making them smooth, making them better
Waiting for someone to come along.
It’s awfully lonely here, on this side of the ruined map
looking away, looking inward
And waiting for a way to sail to the other side.
To a new adventure.

What To Do On A Long Car Trip

10) Bring snacks. I cannot stress this enough. Eventually someone will be hungry, and having something to give them will make the trip a lot smoother.

9) If you’re in the backseat, you are free to nap. The person in the passenger seat is tasked with keeping the driver awake and alert. The driver drives the car.

8) Play music, or even make a good playlist to listen to on the trip.

7) Take photos of the trip! Enjoy the scenery.

6) If you’re one of those people who can read in the car, bring something long and/or interesting to read.

5) BRING. SNACKS.

4) Try to stop every once in a while. It’s good to stretch and explore your surroundings.

3) Make sure to bring headphones/chargers/batteries/etc.Nothing is worse than running out of power on a long car trip.

2) If possible, take turns driving! No one really wants to drive for the whole trip.

1) Enjoy!

What To Do When You Come Back Home

10) Sleep. Sleep as much as you can before you have to return to your everyday life.

9) Do your laundry, especially if it’s free for you to do. Most colleges require you to pay for your laundry, so I highly recommend doing it at home.

8) If you’re going home for break, simply enjoy your time off. Make the most of it.

7) Spend some time with family and/or friends, especially if you haven’t seen them in a while.

6) Take care of any work that you have to do. It’s best to get it done at the start of break, so you don’t have to worry about it later.

5) If you have a pet or pets, spend quality time with them!

4) Take advantage of the fact that you don’t have to buy your own food. Dig in (within reason).

3) Make sure to book appointments/attend those appointments! This is something I often forget to do.

2) Did I mention sleep? Because I can’t stress the importance of sleep enough.

1) Enjoy your break! Go outside, get comfortable, it’s going to be a good time.

What To Do When You Have Free Time

10) Remember this moment. You may not have free time again in the future, so cherish it.

9) Catch up on work/hobbies! The less stressful, the better.

8) Spend time with family and/or friends.

7) Spend time by yourself! Being able to spend time by yourself is sometimes a great way to spend your free time.

6) Take a nap, or at least rest a little. It’s good for the mind, and the body.

5) Catch up on blogging or reading others blog posts. Like you’re doing right now.

4) Go outside! Especially if it’s nice outside. Fall is one of my favorite seasons, and it’s a beautiful one.

3) Go do something fun!

2) Clean. I personally find cleaning to be soothing, so I highly recommend it.

1) Enjoy! Free time is some of the best time there is, so make the most of it.

What To Do When You Haven’t Slept Well

10) Drink caffeinated beverages. A lot of them. Try drinking one cup for every hour you didn’t sleep.

9) Blast loud music to wake you up. I find punk, rock or metal work well for this tip.

8)  If possible, try to nap during the day. Catching up on the sleep that you missed is a great idea.

7) Try to eat energy-boosting foods! But eating too many sugar-heavy  foods isn’t a great idea.

6) Try to do relaxing activities. If you’re overtired, and running around, it can make you even more tired.

5) Go to bed early for a few days if possible. Catching up on sleep is important.

4) Try taking melatonin supplements if you’re really having trouble sleeping.

3) Or eat foods that naturally have melatonin (like cherries)

2) Again, I cannot stress the importance of caffeine. But I’m also a college student who’s slightly dependent on coffee, so take this advice with a grain of salt.

1) Try to get a good nights’ sleep as soon as you can!
