Sorry I haven’t posted in the past week, I was sick.
Do you ever feel like you’re out of the loop? Like everyone around you has an agenda, and you’re stuck sitting at your desk? That everyone is filled in, that they know something that you don’t know?
It can be really frustrating, because sometimes, the more you try to get “in the loop”, the more out of touch you are with the current happenings and situations. It’s like when someone tells a joke, but you don’t understand the punchline.

When Life Hands You Lemons... 
I frequently feel out of the loop, as a graduate student. I am so narrow-minded on my own project that I have difficulty seeing what lies outside and around.

As a undergraduate student, I feel similarly, especially as I get closer to becoming a senior and having to start figuring out my life after college. xxoo

I’m down with you misssamanthajill–it can be UBER-frustrating when you don’t get the inside joke. That’s exactly why not knowing pop culture references pisses me off. At the same time, I remember that some of the greatest ideas/human innovations were created by people who weren’t exactly the “cool” ones…they went off on their own and came back with a gift to the human race. Bill Gates and Steve Jobs are some names that come to mind.

Not understanding/not getting pop culture references/jokes is awful, but it’s so hard to stay in the loop with all of the updates and breaking news that goes on! xxoo

I just ignore it all and go read more…the best way to be in the loop is to know as much as possible and then invert the loop with your knowledgeable smugness…I need to get out more.

Reading and obtaining knowledge can be great ways to stay in the loop, as well as getting out more! Sometimes the information you obtain though might not be relevant. xxoo
