Chapters 465, 466, 467, 468, 469, 470 & 471: Coming and Going

Happy Friday!

I hate to say it, but I’m sad today. I found out that two of my close friends at college will not be there this semester (one is taking a leave, the other is transferring), and another friend is transferring at the end of the semester. It sucks to know that they’re leaving, even though I know it’s best for them.

It’s just frustrating to see people you care about leave. It makes me feel like I did something wrong, even though I know I didn’t. Maybe there will be new people to hang out with and become friends with!

People leaving sucks, but hopefully there will be people coming into my life too!

How do you feel when people leave?

Have an awesome day!

  1. It is always disappointing when people leave the immediate vicinity of your life, but if they are that important to you, you will be able to stay in meaningful contact with them.

I have explored that a bit in a couple of the posts on my blog, as well, maybe in an implicit sense.

  2. I’m 61 years old and many people have come and gone in my life, BUT I still have many friends that I keep on touch with, some for over 40 years. Good friends will remain good friends no matter how far away. Whenever you lose a friend, make a new one. College is an excellent place to make new friends. A friendly hello over coffee or ask someone if they want to grab a bite after class. I’ve made many friends that way. If you extend your hand, you’ll be surprised how many hands there are to hold.

Truthfully, it’s always been hard for me to let good friends go; there’s definitely so many emotions that I go through. For me, I’ve learned that everything really happens for a reason and all relationships have helped me to learn how to love deeper and grow more as a human being. None of us really wants to be “alone” and apart from others in life, but I think life always sweeps in and will bring us to the right people. 🙂

  4. I think that with today’s communication methods it is still easy to keep in contact, although you’re not meeting every day. Yes, I do hate to see people go but on the other side, just like you said, others will come.

  5. Aww, sad days. I am used to people leaving–in 1st grade my very best friend moved away, in 5th grade one flat out decided not to be my friend, then in 6th grade my new best friend moved away, and in 7th grade another friend moved and another became home schooled. By high school I’d changed groups of friends so many times it was exhausting. And yes, it was sad every time. But I always found new friends.

In college, I got conflicting advice from all sides; some people think your college friends will be there for the rest of your life, and some said everyone moves away after college and you don’t really keep up with them.

I’m now 2 1/2 years past graduation, and most of the people I hung out with aren’t in close communication with me anymore–but my one best friend from college is still a best friend and we stayed in touch so much that I found her a job at my office and now we live in the same town again. There are happy endings! Hold out for them.
